In the garden beside the wisteria is the workshop, I love it in the summer as the doors are thrown open and I can look out onto the lovely garden. In winter I batten down the hatches and keep going with lots of cups of hot tea !
All my life I have loved creating and been particularly drawn to colour, fabric, markets and old, quirky shops full of the unexpected !!
Renovating two old houses on a very tight budget taught me to be creative with colour, paint and fabric, making a beautiful home full of finds from all over.
After doing a foundation course in Art and Design I specialised in Fashion/Textiles at Art college. This led me to a career in retail which included qualifying in Visual Merchandising .
I have also taken classes in Interior design, Upholstery, Fabric printing and Stained glass.
Combining together all my skills I started Wisteria Workshop in 2013 and love all the new, exciting challenges and meeting new people.
These furniture upholstery workshops will give you an introduction to upholstery techniques, to revive tired furniture with beautiful fabrics. I will guide you through the upholstery process.
You’ll need to bring along one small, portable piece of furniture to upholster; a dining chair, ottoman or stool are all perfect.
Please be mindful that if you do bring a larger piece of furniture we do have limited time and want you to get as much done as possible in your introduction to Upholstery workshop ! Please be aware that not all people finish on the day though - it really depends on the furniture you choose to bring. However, a further class/es can be booked to finish.
You will also need to bring a piece of fabric to upholster with. Please call/email if you have any questions about what to bring.
Please bring a packed lunch or I can provide at £5 (Tea, coffee and cake are provided)
Some additional materials may be charged at cost on the day depending on the size of your project. Suitable for beginners.
Please email me dates that you can do and I will get back to you,see if you have a friend that would like to join you.
I have started experimenting with some lino cut and screen prints. A couple of pieces have been upholstered in my designs and then sold .
I am planning more designs and unique prints ...Watch this space.
Starting in April I will be running a class in fabric stenciling and then making the fabric into a lampshade.
Also in April working with a very experienced printer we will be holding a class screen printing and then using fabric to upholster a small piece of furniture...learning two new skills and taking a finished piece home on the day.
These classes will be held at Frankie Loves Ava on Wells Road.
